This project explores 2 different conceptual approaches to creating a residential block as part of a larger development located close to a harbour.

The first option displays a more conservative, classical and traditional approach, forming a belt-like mass which wraps around the site, creating a protected urban cloister, reinforcing the idea of this plot being an “island”, or a village.
The focus of this design is mainly on the neighbourhood, creating a main central gathering square, with a smaller, common, children’s playground and some more quiet resting spots almost like a village’s main plaza, smaller courtyards and back gardens.

The second option is a more lively, more dynamic approach to the design, forming 4 blocks which are part of a larger promenade that links the south of the harbour to the north.
The blocks communicate with each other through animated facades, vistas, protrusions and architectonics.
The focus is on the larger community, creating a gateway to the larger development with the setback and break of the two buildings to the East, and extending the internal gardens of the plot south, to create a larger, interlinked, green space promoting a healthier lifestyle of walks, jogging and cycling (in a safer environment too).
